Why join GLISA?

If you're wondering why you should join GLISA, here are a few great reasons:

  • Develop leadership skills by serving as a GLISA officer or on a GLISA committee
  • Exclusive access to a Blackboard area where members share tips and information
  • Find a student mentor (or mentor others) in areas like computers, distance education, librarianship, or SLIS 
  • Win a trip to the annual ALA conference if selected by your fellow members during our annual contest
  • Win a trip to the annual TxLA conference if selected by your fellow members during our annual contest
  • Network and get to know your fellow students, as well as develop professional relationships beneficial to your career
  • Stay informed and up to date on ALA and library news and information
  • You can include membership in your final exam portfolio for graduation
  • The faculty consider GLISA involvement when they recommend students for membership in the Beta Phi Mu honor society
